If you haven't visited your local library for a while you may be surprised at the wealth of services available.

Services

The range of services available from Calderdale Libraries.

Sound + Vision

Calderdale Libraries have a large and eclectic stock of CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray for you to hire.

Central Library meeting rooms

The Central Library, Halifax has three meeting rooms available for hire. Facilities available include a kitchen area, television, video recorder, projectors and screen.

Online reference resources

Calderdale Libraries offer a range of on-line reference resources. Some are just available to use in the Central Reference Library, some can be used in other Calderdale libraries too, and some can be accessed by Calderdale library members from home.

Local studies and family history resources

Local studies and family history resourcesCalderdale Libraries hold a wealth of information of interest to historians and people tracing their family history. Resources include maps, newspapers, local antiquarian papers, trade directories and photos.

Newspapers

Calderdale Libraries provide an extensive range of newspapers and periodicals.

Schools resources service

A range of exciting education services, including the loan of Art and Step Into History boxes, help for pupils in developing their search and research skills, and a programme of activities which meet the Learning Outside the Classroom quality badge, are provided by Calderdale's 'Discover' team.

Fees and charges

The library service has three rates of charges - the standard, children's and a separate rate for holders of the Council's leisure card scheme.
