Childcare Counts

During 2007, the Families' Information Service surveyed over 1,000 parents and the top 100 employers in Calderdale to find out what they thought about childcare in the area. This section details the key findings of that survey as well as the current childcare situation in Calderdale.

Childminding can be a rewarding, worthwhile career. This section provides helpful advice and guidance, including details of short and informal information sessions about the best route into childcare.

Looked After Children Education Service (LACE)

LACE is a multi-disciplinary support service for Calderdale Looked After Children, schools and carers.

Parent Partnership Service

The Parent Partnership Service is a statutory, independent service which provides information, advice and support to parents of children aged 3 to 19 with special educational needs.

Play service

Calderdale Play Service works primarily with children and young people aged 5 to 14 years to provide quality play opportunities. It also seeks to work with community groups, schools and other associations to develop local play provision.

Sure Start

Sure Start local programmes aim to improve the health and well-being of families and children from before birth to four, so children are ready to flourish when they go to school. Find out more here.

Toy Library

The Toy Library supplies registered childcare providers in Calderdale with access to an ever-changing range of educational and exciting toys, helping to promote education through play for children of all ages.
