Children's centres
Little Stars Children's Centre, Parkinson Lane
Little Stars Children's Centre was officially opened in October 2008 by the children of the community. It is situated below Parkinson Lane Primary School. The convenient location offers easy access to wheelchair users and on-site parking.
There is a large crèche area, kitted out with new furniture and resources, a training kitchen, two large meeting rooms, a health room and a one-to-one room. Facilities offered by Sure Start in the centre include an on-site ante-natal service, toddler groups, and adult learning groups.
The following is a timetable of activities currently offered at the Little Stars Children's Centre, Parkinson Lane. Please note that we are changing the way we run our groups and are now asking that you book on to the course/group you want to attend with your child (the course/group will be age specific). There will be a variety of activities so that all age ranges are catered for. The only sessions that will not require you to book will be Parent and Toddler and Musical Minds.

| Tuesday | Holiday activities | 1.00 am to 3.00 pm | Come and join us throughout the summer holidays every Tuesday afternoon. There will be a different activity every week for you and your children to enjoy |

| Wednesday | Music and Action Group | 1.00 am to 3.00 pm | Musical instruments, song time and rhymes using puppets, making musical instruments and looking at different sounds and noises. |
| Thursday | Health Trainer Sessions | 1.00 am to 3.00 pm | Help with healthy eating, physical activity, stop smoking, reducing stress and drinking sensibly. Appointment only. Contact 01422 281399 to book a place. |
| Thursday | Credit Union | 1.00 pm to 3.00 pm | If you would like financial advice on how to avoid debt and loan sharks.Make an appointment with a Credit Union member. |
Money Skills
Barclays money skills is aimed to teach people about topics ranging from budgeting to banking, affordable credit agreements, illegal money lending and issues such as identify theft and scams. To book onto the course please contact the Children's Centre.
Breastfeeding
If you require any additional information about breastfeeding please contact the Centre.
Baby Massage
Baby Massage can help a baby's relaxation, sleep and overall health. This group is specifically for babies aged 0-9 months and runs for 4 weeks. Please contact the Centre to book.
Tiny Treasures
Tiny Treasures is a 3 week course developed for baby's aged 5-9months. This group will help to develop your babies 5 senses (touch, taste, hear, sight,and smell) and simulate the brain by using treasure baskets. Please contact the Centre to book a place.
Training and Employment help and advice
Do you require help and advice about training and employment? Then call into the Centre and we will assist you to make an appointment with Nigel Broadbent the Job Centre Plus outreach advisor. Nigel will be calling into the Centre to offer help and advice to families in the local community and will work along side existing Children's Centre Services.
