New car park station read Hebden Bridge
5 September 2008
Construction work is programmed to start on Monday, 6 October to introduce a new 29 space public car park for Hebden Bridge.
It is anticipated the car park will be complete and open for public use by the end of November.
Land off Station Road (which leads to the Railway Station) in Hebden Royd Town Council's ownership will be used, in a joint initiative with Calderdale Council whose Parking Services team will operate.
The car park will feature tarmac surfacing, street lighting, security fence surround, entrance height barrier and will also include resurfacing the adjacent footpath leading to Calder Holmes park.
A limited number of small trees will be removed to the boundary adjoining the adjacent gas station site and a mature tree will be removed in order to better realign the footpath as it enters the park.
The car park will operate on a pay and display basis with charges levied being 20p per hour for up to 4 hours 8.00am to 6.00pm all days of the week, with stays over 4 hours being charges at a blanket £1.
Calderdale Council's Cabinet Member, Regeneration and Development, Cllr David Kirton, said:
"This new car park should contribute to relieving the recognised pressure of Hebden Bridges parking needs."
