Calderdale Register Office
Obtaining copies of certificates
To get a certified copy of an entry in a birth, death or marriage register you must first establish where the event took place. You can then apply to the Register Office of that district for a certificate. If you do not know which district to contact or where the event occurred, you can contact the General Register Office: Certificate ordering service|
at Southport. The GRO holds an index of all births, deaths and marriages for England and Wales since July 1837. Names are listed alphabetically by each quarter of the year.
The Calderdale Register Office holds records of all births, deaths and marriages that have taken place in Calderdale since July 1837. The very minimum amount of information we require to accept a certificate request is the year and quarter in which the event took place. The current fee for a certificate from a completed register is £10.00.
You can apply for certificates:

When sending for more than one genealogical (family history) certificate we suggest sending a separate cheque for each event, in case a search is unsuccessful and we need to make a refund. We require payment at the time of application.
We aim to deal with postal applications for certificates within 5 working days of receipt, although genealogical (family history) requests may take longer.
