Flooding

Introduction

In heavy rain conditions we work closely with the Environment Agency to monitor and respond to highway drainage problems guided by the following Environment Agency flood warning system:

• Flood Alert = Flooding possible, be aware
• Flood Warning = Flooding expected, act now
• Severe Flood Warning = Severe flooding expected and danger to life

Up to date information on the current status of a section of main river within Calderdale can be found on the web site of the Environment Agency: Flooding|, or by ringing Floodline on 0845 988 1188.

Sirens are installed to warn of flooding across the Upper Calder Valley.
