The West Yorkshire Forget Me Not Trust

This year the Mayor of Calderdale has chosen to support the West Yorkshire Forget Me Not Trust - a charity set up with the aim to care for children who have life-limiting conditions, children who are unlikely to reach adulthood. Care for siblings and families will also be at the heart of the service we aim to provide.

The Trust is currently raising the funds to provide a house for respite, emergency and end-of life care. £3million pounds will be needed to build the centre and then a further £1.5 million each year for running costs. Community based teams to provide care and support at home will be part of what we do, as will bereavement support to help during this incredibly difficult time.

The West Yorkshire Forget Me Not Trust will provide this service, 365 days each year, free of charge to everyone in our communities, irrespective of social, cultural or religious background. Those children and families of Calderdale who currently need such care, have to make long journeys to specialist centres further afield.

We are incredibly driven to achieve our objectives. Excellent progress has already been made by a dedicated group of supporters, volunteers and the fundraising team. Our next steps are very exciting - we mean business!

With such a significant amount of money to raise, we are delighted to be working with the Mayor. This provides a fantastic opportunity for everyone in the Calderdale community to help in making a real difference. From large corporate sponsors, to individual giving; from local support groups to our flagship events - the sky is the limit when it comes to ideas for raising funds!

Over the coming year we shall be launching a number of new fundraising initiatives, including campaigns and events and we would really like to keep you informed of our plans. If you would like to be put on to our mailing list, please let us know.

Although we cannot make these children better, we can make sure that they and their families do not have to face these times alone.
