Introduction
Calderdale Scrutiny Panels – Helping drive improvement
In the past couple of months Scrutiny@Calderdale has:
- Reviewed the current Carers’ strategy;
- Continued its on-going scrutiny review on dementia;
- Reviewed the Cabinet’s progress on the implementation of the revised “fresh start” programme;
- Considered the new Homes Bonus – reinvestment in Housing
- Received an overview of national policy development and the local position in Calderdale on recycling, including performance management information;
- Looked at the Alcohol Strategy and heard from a variety of people about their experiences of alcohol abuse, from the perspective of users and those affected;
- Continued to scrutinise social care for children to make sure that every child in Calderdale is as safe as they can be.
- All Panels will also be considering the Cabinet’s Budget proposals for 2012/13- 2014/15 at their respective early February, 2012 meetings.

The five Scrutiny Panels are:
- Adults, Health and Social Care Scrutiny Panel
- Children and Young People Scrutiny Panel
- Economy and Environment Scrutiny Panel
- Safer and Stronger Communities Scrutiny Panel
- Use of Resources Scrutiny Panel.
