Register of members interest
- The Head of Democratic and Partnership Services, as the Monitoring Officer, will be responsible for the establishment and maintenance of the register of interests of Members and co-opted members of the Council as required under Section 51 of the Local Government Act 2000 and the Local Authorities (Model Code of Conduct) Order 2007.
- Members and co-opted members are required, within 28 days of their election or appointment, to notify the Head of Democratic and Partnership Services in writing of any financial or other interest of a type specified in Part 3 of the Code of Conduct for Members. (A copy of the Code is included in Part 5 of this Constitution).
- Members and co-opted members must also give written notification of any change to their interests within 28 days of becoming aware of any change.
- Members and co-opted members must also, within 28 days of receiving any gift or hospitality over the value of £25, give written notification of the existence and nature of that gift or hospitality.
- The written notifications will be recorded in a register which is available for public inspection at the offices of the Head of Democratic and Partnership Services, Westgate House, Westgate, Halifax during normal office hours.
- Public notice of the establishment of the register was given in April 2002.
- The above arrangements also apply in relation to the register of interests required to be maintained for interests notified by Town and Parish Councillors.
