Register of members interest

  1. The Head of Democratic and Partnership Services, as the Monitoring Officer, will be responsible for the establishment and maintenance of the register of interests of Members and co-opted members of the Council as required under Section 51 of the Local Government Act 2000 and the Local Authorities (Model Code of Conduct) Order 2007.
  2. Members and co-opted members are required, within 28 days of their election or appointment, to notify the Head of Democratic and Partnership Services in writing of any financial or other interest of a type specified in Part 3 of the Code of Conduct for Members. (A copy of the Code is included in Part 5 of this Constitution).
  3. Members and co-opted members must also give written notification of any change to their interests within 28 days of becoming aware of any change.
  4. Members and co-opted members must also, within 28 days of receiving any gift or hospitality over the value of £25, give written notification of the existence and nature of that gift or hospitality.
  5. The written notifications will be recorded in a register which is available for public inspection at the offices of the Head of Democratic and Partnership Services, Westgate House, Westgate, Halifax during normal office hours.
  6. Public notice of the establishment of the register was given in April 2002.
  7. The above arrangements also apply in relation to the register of interests required to be maintained for interests notified by Town and Parish Councillors.
