Calderdale Forward

1. Introduction

About Calderdale Forward

Calderdale Forward is the district's Local Strategic Partnership (often abbreviated to LSP). It brings together the organisations that have a shared interest in, and commitment to, promoting the social, environmental and economic well-being of Calderdale. It promotes effective strategic planning and partnership working. Public sector organisations, the voluntary and community sector and local businesses are all involved in Calderdale Forward.

Calderdale Forward's aim is to improve the quality of life for people in the District. Its role is to develop an overall strategic vision for the area and ensure it is delivered, through Calderdale's Sustainable Community Strategy. The strategy is currently being updated and will be published in the summer of 2009.

Calderdale Forward consists of:

  • Calderdale Forward Board, which develops policy and makes decisions
  • Calderdale Forward Delivery Group, which co-ordinates and performance manages the delivery of Calderdale's Local Area Agreement
  • 6 Theme Delivery Partnerships, which focus on delivering the Sustainable Community Strategy and Local Area Agreement.

The Theme Delivery Partnerships

  1. Economy and Enterprise
  2. Environment
  3. Safer and Stronger Communities
  4. Healthier Communities
  5. Older People
  6. Children and Young People.

Narrowing the Gap

Narrowing the gap in this context refers to partnership working to reduce the differences across Calderdale in terms of achievement, opportunity and quality of life. Through our commitment to narrowing the gap we also want to reduce the differences between the District and other areas.
