Customer First Office

Customer First offers access to all Council Services. In Todmorden, access to Council’s services is easy since the development of a Calderdale Customer First Service Centre. In Todmorden residents and visitors can access a wide range of services, from a single point of contact, in person.

Adult Learning

Adult Learning is provided through Calderdale Council and delivered by the Calderdale Adult Learning (CAL) Service. The Service provides courses for adults in Arts and Crafts, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Modern Foreign Languages, Health and Safety, Personal Care, Preparation for Life and Work including Literacy, Numeracy, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and provision for adults with learning difficulties and disabilities. CAL also offers Family Learning through partnership arrangements with local schools and children’s centres.

Access into the building is available in the evenings when adult learning classes are taking place during term time only. If you wish to enrol on adult learning courses held at this centre please contact the main administrative centre on 01422 392820.

Education Welfare Office

The Education Welfare Service provides a channel of communication between home and school and between parents and Local Education Authority in order to ensure that children gain access to, and benefit from educational provision. The service has particular responsibilities in respect of pupils who experience deprivation or discrimination, together with those who are disaffected or have special educational needs.

Officers working from the Todmorden office provide Education Welfare service to pupils who attend schools in the Hebden Bridge, Ryburn, Sowerby Bridge and Todmorden area.

Housing Advice Drop In

The Housing Advice Drop In offers free and confidential advice to anyone who has housing problems, or who is homeless or threatened with homelessness. There is an experienced officer who can advise on a range of housing issues including:

Young People's Services – Upper Valley

Calderdale Young People’s Service makes provision in a wide range of settings, including Youth and Community Centre’s; through the Outdoor Centre in Mixenden; drop-in work with young people; work in schools; the Duke of Edinburgh Award Centre and work on the streets. Contact can be made in the first instance through the Area Co-ordinators. The Upper Valley Co-ordinator covers Todmorden, Calder, Luddendenfoot & Ryburn
