Local offices
Introduction
Although Calderdale Council has its administrative headquarters in Halifax, making sure council services are on-the-spot for the people who use them is an important priority.
The Council has local offices in towns and villages throughout Calderdale. Some of them offer a whole range of council services in the same building; others, like Area Housing Offices, are for one service only.
Following the transfer of housing stock to Pennine Housing 2000 a number of former Council Housing offices are now operated by Pennine Housing 2000. Whilst Pennine Housing is an independent company, it is contracted by agreement with the authority to provide certain services to the public. These include cash receipting and receipt of applications for housing by registered social landlords. Therefore Pennine Housing's offices are included in the attached list.
When you want to find out about using a council service, it's often best to start by asking at your local office. If there is no local office for your area, or you are not certain where to start, write or telephone the headquarters office, where the Chief Officer who is manager of the service is based. Staff there will be able to advise you who to contact. Your local library will also have further information on services.
Larger local offices have a Common Services Officer, who can advise about hire of meeting rooms and answer other enquiries. For names and telephone numbers, see the listings.
Opening hours for local offices are 9:00am to 5:00pm unless stated otherwise.
