Park Ward

Residents complained about bins and recycling in Park ward

Residents are encouraged to report their concerns to the council, you can speak to a customer first advisor by ringing 0845 245 7000 or visit Halifax Central Initiative at our new premises at Queen's Road Neighbourhood Centre where we can deal with your concerns.

As part of the "Proud in Park" project we have visited over 45 streets and worked with residents in organising community clean ups, promoting recycling and assisting in ensuring that residents are recycling.

If you would like a community clean up organised in your neighbuorhood, please contact us on 01422 365948 and we will assist in providing skips and staff from the recycling team can attend and offer advice and containers to ensure that you are recycling properly.

Residents would like to know if PACT (Policing and Communities Together) meetings could provide childcare or whether the Neighbourhood Police Team (NPT) could arrange PACT Meetings at different times to meet the needs of the general public who need childcare to attend meetings

The Neighbourhood Police Team (NPT) are unable to offer childcare facilities for parents that may want to attend the PACT meetings. The NPT looking at changing the times of the PACT Meeting to encourage more residents to attend the meetings. PACT meetings are held every 6 weeks, and meetings will now alternate from one meeting held in the evening with another at midday.

Dates and times of the PACT meetings are available on the West Yorkshire Police: Calderdale Neighbourhood Policing|External link

In addition to this we have two officers based at Queen's Road Neighbourhood Centre who can assist with any issues and concerns you may have.  You can contact them on 01422 365948 or visit the HCI office.

Sowerby Bridge

ASB at the Market place (June 2011 to present)

Young Peoples Service attended the September Ward forum and informed residents about ongoing work that is being done by the detached team. Youth workers regularly visit the Market place and engaged with young people, various diversionary activities are offered. In addition to this HCI co-ordinated a services meeting to look at the issues around the Market Place, this was attended by the Market Manager, Young people Service, Neighbourhood Policing Team and local Councillors. The police and wardens are carrying out regular patrols in the area and businesses have been visited by the police and Fire service to ensure that premises are safe and secure.
Ongoing ASB in the Hollins Mill areaFollowing a ward walkabout and ongoing concerns about the ASB in the Hollins Mill area, funding has been secure to have the steel container removed. This Container has been used over the year for camping and fires, resulting in damage and rubbish in the area. In addition to this, signs will be put up to discourage fly tipping.

Skircoat Ward

Residents requested that everyone is kept updated about Copley Valley and not just the residents that attend ward forums

We are happy to keep everyone informed about Copley Valley through attendance at Ward Forums and other meetings that we attend including the PACT (Policing and Communities Together) meetings etc.

We have attended and visited community groups in the area to encourage people to be on our mailing list. Residents who are currently on our mailing list receive information about what is happening in their wards on a regular basis.

If you would like to be added onto the mailing list, please speak to a member of staff or email us at wardforumhalifaxcentral@calderdale.gov.uk

If you are unable to attend a ward forum and would like to support, assistance or information about a particular service/issue you can contact us on 01422 365948 and we do our best to help you.

Litter left on Skircoat Moor over the weekends is becoming a problem again, could CMBC look into this? How often are the bins emptied at Skircoat Moor?

The community wardens have been working with the football teams in encouraging them to make sure they take their litter with them after a game. Letters are sent out too all teams using the football pitches informing teams about the importance of complying with the hiring regulations.

In 2011 the community wardens received training to issue fixed penalty notices for dog fouling and littering. In other areas across Calderdale, action days have been organised with partners including Safer, Cleaner, Greener Teams, Environmental Health officers etc where specific areas have been targeted to tackle dog fouling/litter.

If you would like us to organise an action day in your ward, please do let us know by contacting us on 01422 365948.

Bins are emptied regularly at the moor and a bulk of the litter generated in the park is due to the increased usage of the football pitches over the weekend. There are currently 18 litter and 3 dog bins on Savile Park Moor and Skircoat Moor Road.
