Spring 2007

The Piece Hall, Halifax

The Piece Hall is a valued and treasured asset and the Council would like to ensure that the best possible use is made of the building for the enjoyment of Calderdale residents and visitors. This section of the questionnaire will hopefully give us an indication of what attracts or deters visitors to the Piece Hall. This will help us make improvements and changes to the management of the building to ensure more people can enjoy the experience of visiting and shopping in the Piece Hall.

Initially we asked questions to understand why respondents make the journey into Halifax, how often they visit, and by which means of transport. This provided us with an overview of the general frequency of residents coming into the town centre. Overwhelmingly, the substantive reason for visiting the town centre was to shop (73%), with similar amounts making that journey by car (74%).

The local press is the main means by which panel members have seen mention of the Piece Hall with posters / leaflets being the second most likely method.

The table below gives an indication of how often residents visit the Piece Hall - we did this by asking when panel members most recently visited the Piece Hall.
