Spring 2007

Introduction

Welcome to our Spring 2007 Newsletter and a big ‘thank you’ to all of you who completed and returned our November survey, providing us once again with an excellent 82% response rate!

Inside this issue

The November survey was a relatively short questionnaire and contained questions exploring three areas of interest. Your responses have enabled us to collate a valuable set of results which are summarised in the following pages. The topics covered include:

The results of each section of this survey have now been fed back to the relevant service area to help inform policy making, and to make relevant improvements to the individual services.

Where possible this Newsletter details how the results have already been used to make changes to existing services but, in certain instances, changes will take some time to implement. Where more time is needed to implement the changes, future Newsletters will keep you up to date with any further changes in the ‘You said - we did ’ section of the Newsletter.

If you wish to know more about, or be involved with, other community consultations in Calderdale, please see Community consultations.

Focus Groups

Last year a number of panel members took part in ten focus group sessions to help us understand public attitudes to the proposed Draft Waste Management Strategy. The groups discussed several key issues including the Collections Service in general, Recycling and Composting, Household Waste Recycling sites and Waste Disposal sites. Many thanks to all the panel members who took time to attend the sessions, we hope you found the experience informative and enjoyable. The results of the focus groups and other related consultation exercises will go towards structuring and strengthening the Waste Strategy for Calderdale.
