Your Council - Your Voice

Tell us what you think of our vision and priorities for the future.

In each section below please tell us if you agree or disagree with the statements given:
Q1 Growth - Driving economic development and enterprise.
The Council has an important role in helping local businesses become and stay successful
I would support Council investment in access to technology and good transport links in and around Calderdale
I would support Council investment in facilities like a new Central Calderdale Sports Centre
I would support Council investment in more affordable housing
It is important the Council supports local shopping in our market towns
Q2 Ambition - Raising aspiration and achievement for all our residents
It is important the Council protects front line services for vulnerable children and young people eg children in care or with special needs
It is important the Council supports all our children to get the best possible start in life by subsidising the cost of nursery provision for some parents
It is important the Council supports the education and development of young people through schools, children's centres and family services
It is important the Council supports apprenticeships and other ways that help local young people get jobs, including those with a disability
Q3 Resilience - Supporting personal, community and environmental resilience
It is important the Council protects front line services for our more vulnerable residents eg older people or adults with learning disabilities/other health issues
The Council has an important role in supporting volunteering and successful local community organisations
It is important the Council strengthens community relations and promotes good neighbours and citizens
It is important the Council works with the Police and others to prevent crime and anti-social behaviour, and to help our streets and neighbourhoods stay safe
Q4 Sustainability - Managing demand and investing for the future
The Council has an important role protecting our environment and local countryside.
I would pay more Council Tax to help maintain front-line services
I would pay more to maintain services that the Council charges for, like sports centres.
I would be happy to see charging introduced for some services to maintain the service at current levels
I would support the Council having fewer, good quality services in our main market towns rather than trying to spread them too thinly across Calderdale (eg car parks, libraries and parks)
I think the Council should increase investment in local roads eg filling pot holes
Q5 Efficiency - Delivering efficiency and effectiveness in public services
I would be happy to use more Council services online
I would support further Council investment in technology so it can provide more services on-line
I would support the Council using fewer buildings to run services (this would mean some services using the same building, eg having Customer First in a library)
It is important that the Council reviews its decision making processes, like elections, to make sure that they are good value for money.
I would support local services being run by somebody else (eg a private company or voluntary organisation) if it would save money and maintain quality.
Q6 Fairness - Reducing inequalities and tackling disadvantage
The Council should invest more in areas or communities that have the greatest need eg communities where there is high unemployment or more children are living in poverty
I think it is important the Council helps make us all more physically active as this will improve our health and reduce the use of health and public services in the future
The Council should invest in more preventative work to stop problems happening in the first place eg promoting speed awareness to stop accidents
