How to use the scheme

The classes of information are based on general classifications and each class has an explanation of what types of information will be included. For instance, information about local byelaws can be found in Class one: The Council and its Decisions. A short description of each class is given below.

  1. The Council and its Decisions
    Information about the Constitution, minutes, Forward Plan, charities and byelaws
  2. Elections
    The Electoral Register and Edited Register with names and addresses of voters, ward and polling district
  3. Licensing
    Details of licences granted by the Licensing Section
  4. Local Land Charges
    Information about local land charges and land registered as common or as a town or village green
  5. Births, Deaths and Marriages
    Information kept on statutory registers by the Council’s Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages
  6. Social Services
    Information about the Council’s Health and Social Care Directorate
  7. Schools and Children’s Services
    A range of plans, policies and strategies relating to various central and local government initiatives as well as services provided by the Schools and Children’s Services Directorate
  8. Planning
    Information about planning decisions and various statutory registers
  9. Council Land and Property
    Information about land in the Council’s ownership
  10. Markets
    Information about markets, sites and stalls operated by the Council
  11. Building Control
    General advice and information on Building Regulations
  12. Finance
    Information about the Council’s finances including accounts
  13. Housing
    Information about the Council’s function as a housing authority for Calderdale area
  14. Environmental Health
    Information about policies and procedures in relation to Environmental Health
  15. Community Services
    Information about the Council’s leisure facilities including libraries, sport, recreation, museums and arts, and community safety
  16. Personnel
    Various policies and procedures relating to employees of the Council, health and safety, conduct of staff, treatment of Council assets, discipline and grievance, training, recruitment and selection, salary and grading
  17. West Yorkshire Archive Service
    Historical information kept on behalf of the Council by the West Yorkshire Archive Service.
