Freedom of information

Feedback and complaints

The Publication Scheme is a legal requirement under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. This Act has a theme of openness and accountability in the public sector. This will be achieved by local authorities making information available which is in the public interest. It is important therefore that the Scheme meets your needs.

We welcome suggestions as to how the Scheme and the publications themselves might be improved. These should be addressed to:

  • Name
  • The Information Management Co-ordinator
  • Address
  • Law and Administration Services
    Westgate House
  • Westgate

  • Halifax HX1 1PS

If you have a complaint relating to problems in obtaining information published in accordance with this Scheme, you should initially contact the service which dealt with your request. If you are still not satisfied, you may ask that your complaint be reviewed under the Council’s FOI Appeal Procedure. Please write to:

If you have followed the FOI Appeal Procedure and are still not happy with how we have dealt with your request, you may also contact the Information Commissioner to ask him to investigate. You can contact the Information Commissioner at:
