Requesting information
To see information about you
You must write to the Authority, to the address below, asking to see your records. You will need to provide your name and address and any other details that could help the Authority find your information. A Subject Access Request Form specifically for this purpose is available.

To obtain a copy of your child's School records you should apply directly to the School in question. More information on applying to see School records is available from the Information Commissioner's Office|

Cost
A fee of £10 must be sent with your request to view your personal records. This should be in the form of a cheque made payable to Calderdale MBC.
The information
You will be given a copy to keep and check for accuracy. This will either be a printout from the computer or a photocopy of your manual records. However, where there are large volumes of information held, you will be requested to review the information prior to copying.
If the data is incorrect
You must write to the Council telling it what data is incorrect and asking for the data to be corrected. The Council must tell you what it has done within 21 days of receiving your request. If the Council does not agree that the information is incorrect you can ask it to record your disagreement on your records.
You can also appeal to the Information Commissioner or the Courts if the Council does not correct the information. The address for the Information Commissioner can be found on the Access to Information page.
If you think you have not been given all of the information you asked for
You can appeal to the Council directly by contacting the complaints officer or you can appeal to the Information Commissioner. The Commissioner's staff will look into the matter on your behalf.
