Youth Works

A group of young peopleYouth Works drop-in

Youth Works drop-in is located in the basement of the YMCA in Halifax town centre. It offers a safe space for young people aged 13-25 where they can come along, 'chill out', listen to music, access the internet, have a brew or none of the above.

The drop in is always staffed by two youth workers who can offer advice, information, support or guidance on the whole range of issues that affect young people.

The drop-in is open weekdays from 3.00 pm to 5.45 pm.

About Youth Works

Youth Works is a specialist detached youth work project that is funded through Action Halifax, the successful Single Regeneration Programme for the town centre, supported by the Primary Care Group and managed by Calderdale Youth Service.

The primary aim of the project is to act as a bridge between young people and existing / planned support services.

Youth Works supports those people who experience difficulties through a range of issues, including substance and alcohol abuse, antisocial or criminal behaviour, homelessness, lack of education, training or employment opportunities and family or personal problems.

The project provides opportunities to address these issues by making contact with young people in the places where they meet naturally, and through professional relationships which enable them to deal with their own issues or facilitate access to appropriate services including treatment.
