Youth Opportunity Fund

Introduction

Young peopleDo you want to have a say in what young people can do in Calderdale? If you are aged 13 to 19 and live in Calderdale you can get involved in deciding what there is for young people to do and where they can go to do it.

The Youth Opportunity Fund (YOF) is money that can be used to make your good idea happen – it could be a sports event, music festival, arts project, a group visit or residential trip, anything you can think of! If you, or your friends, have a good idea and just need the money to make it happen, read the guidance on making an application and complete the application form.

Youth Capital Fund (YCF)

YCF makes money available to buy buildings or equipment so you can do the things you want to do. It could be your group needs a new minibus, some sports kit, somewhere to store things, a place to meet – your idea must cost at least £2,500! If you have a good idea that will help young people in your area, please let us know.

The Youth Matters green paper proposed that a discrete amount of resource should be provided through a Youth Opportunity Fund which young people could control, deciding how to spend the money in their area.

Youth Matters also proposed a Youth Capital Fund aimed at enabling local authorities to develop new approaches to strategic investment in youth facilities, particularly in deprived neighbourhoods. The involvement of young people, especially disadvantaged young people, is central to this initiative.
