Notes on the application form
- Completing the form
The form must be completed by young people. - Contact details
We need contact details for two young people involved in making the application and an adult working with the group. Please make sure that you can be contacted during the school holidays. This is so we can contact you to ask you any necessary questions to help the area panels make decisions about your application. - About your project
Tell us exactly what you want to do as part of your project or activity. - Meeting the criteria
Tell us how you think your project meets the Youth Opportunities Fund / Youth Capital Fund criteria (the five outcomes of the government white paper: Every Child Matters). You can include in your application any extra information you think is important. This could include drawings, photographs or even video / DVD presentations. - Tell us what you want to spend the money on
Try to be as detailed and as accurate as possible. For example, if it cost £500 to do a dance project for ten weeks, don't just put 'Dance = £500', instead put 'Dance x 10 weeks @ £50 per session = £500'. Please also enclose receipts of all monies spent or a narrative if there is no receipt. All monies must be accounted for audit purposes. - Bank details
Details must be provided of the bank account you would like the money paid into if you are funded through YOF or YCF.
The application form is designed to be straightforward and easy to complete. However, if you do have difficulty with any part, please get in touch with Young People's Service, Northgate House, Halifax HX1 1UN, telephone 01422 392530. As long as you have a clear idea of what your project intends to achieve and what it will cost, then we'll help you to complete the application form.
Please return your completed application and monitoring forms promptly. Incomplete forms will be returned which could delay the consideration of your application.
How will decisions be made?
Your application will be looked at by a grants panel that will be made up of between four and seven young people, from different areas of Calderdale.
If you have applied for more than £2,000 you may be asked to come and meet the panel and tell us about your project. You will not be expected to do a big presentation, just to meet with the panel and answer any questions that they have.
If the grants panel cannot reach an agreement, the application will be looked at by a second panel of young people and a vote will be taken of all panel members.
What happens next?
If your application is successful we will write to you to let you know and the money will be paid into your bank account.
If the grants panels think that they do not have enough information to make a decision, they will write to tell you what more information they need. You will be given a date when you need to return the additional information. After you have done this your application will be looked at again in the same way.
If your application is unsuccessful, we will write to you to let you know and tell you the reasons why the grants panels didn't award you the grant.
