Volunteering with Countryside Services

The Calderdale Countryside Team has over 75 volunteer countryside rangers.

Volunteers play an extremely important part in the delivery of countryside management in Calderdale, undertaking many tasks ranging from habitat management, tree planting and wildlife surveys through to maintenance of public rights of way and way marking.

Volunteers also play an important role in helping run Ogden Water . Here volunteers run the shop and visitor centre, as well as carrying out management work around the site.

For suitably trained and experienced volunteers, there are opportunities to volunteer as an Education Ranger and work with the Education Officer to deliver site based educational workshops.

Calderdale Countryside Services also organise and run an annual programme of guided walks, the majority of which are lead by volunteers.
