School crossing patrol

The Road Safety Unit runs this service and each day Calderdale’s School Crossing Patrols help thousands of children to cross the road safely on their way to and from school. We are now protecting over 2.5 million child journeys a year.

There are more than 60 sites throughout Calderdale where School Crossing Patrols operate.

School Crossing Patrol supervisors carry out site inspections and recruit and train applicants. We are always looking for suitable people who want to do something for their community by becoming a School Crossing Patrol or one of our Standby Patrols.

Applicants must:

All applicants will be subject to a Criminal Records Bureau check and medical assessment. 

Training and uniform supplied.
