Calderdale Register Office
Introduction
The Registration service is responsible for:
- registering all the births and deaths which take place in Calderdale,
- completing the legal preliminaries for all Calderdale residents who plan to marry or form a civil partnership,
- conducting all the civil marriages and partnership formations which take place in the district, and
- holding citizenship ceremonies for local residents who have acquired British nationality.
It also provides a certificate service for those requiring a current record of a birth, death or marriage which has taken place in Calderdale in addition to those who are tracing their family tree. See Family history research
Registration records began on 1 July 1837 and the Register Office archives hold all the registers completed in the constituent parts of Calderdale since that date.
