Birth registration
What certificates will be issued
Once the registration is complete, the Registrar will issue certificates.
You will receive free of charge a short birth certificate. This shows only the date of birth and baby's name. This certificate can be used for Child Benefit claims.
If you require a "full" birth certificate - including parents’ details (this is the certificate needed for passports), it may be purchased at the time of registration. Each certified copy is £3.50 if purchased on the day of registration. Certificates purchased after registration are £9.00 each.
