In Halifax we have management control of Lister Lane Cemetery and All Souls Cemetery at Boothtown, both now closed for interments. They are Victorian Cemeteries in design and layout and bear witness to the industrial heritage of Halifax.
A memorial testing and repair system is in operation and as a general policy Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council does not lay down unsafe memorials - these are repaired at point of testing and recorded in accordance with Health and Safety Executive requirements.
Erecting a memorial
To erect a memorial in Calderdale's cemeteries, a permit must be applied for by the registered owner of the grave and the appropriate fee paid. If the grave owner is deceased, a transfer of ownership form must be completed.
Memorial work must be carried out by an authorised memorial mason. A list of masons can be obtained from the administration office.
If you have any queries regarding these cemeteries, please do not hesitate to contact the administration office.
