Internet and Computing
Calderdale Libraries have over 175 computers offering public access to the Internet, these are spread across all service points.
These computers have been provided through a lottery-funded government programme, the People's Network|
Enquire service.
At our libraries you can:
- browse the Internet with our fast broadband access
- obtain access to a number of subscription-only websites
- use email to keep in touch with friends and family
- make printouts for 10p per A4 sheet
- use Microsoft Office for word processing.
- save information onto a USB stick (these can be purchased from the following libraries: Central Library, Brighouse, Elland, Hebden Bridge, King Cross, Sowerby Bridge and Todmorden Library).
- scan documents onto a memory stick. The following libraries offer access to a scanner: Reference library, Access for All Room, Elland and Todmorden Library.
- gain access to a 3.5" (floppy disk drive) in the Reference Library.
To book a PC
You can book a session in person, using your library card and PIN, or by telephoning Your local library .
WiFi
The Central Library, Halifax, Hebden Bridge, King Cross Library and Todmorden Library now offer WiFi hotspots .
People's Network
Calderdale Libraries takes part in the Enquire service from the People's Network|
.
Participating libraries offer a free, live question and answer service available 24 hours a day, every day. It works like instant messaging or chat room technology, allowing you to put questions to trained staff who can help you, just as they would if you were talking to them face-to-face or on the telephone.
