Voluntary sector commissioning
Each year, the Council pays for support services to the voluntary sector, through our contract with Voluntary Action Calderdale|
. We pay for:
- Support for volunteers, and the organisations that use volunteers
- Advice and training for organisations, to help staff and volunteers build their capacity
- Information and communication to help voluntary organisations know what is happening in their area
- Representation and influencing work, to make sure that decision-makers hear from the voluntary sector.
We fund most of this through a specific funding stream for “voluntary sector infrastructure services”. In 2013, our current arrangement with VAC for voluntary sector infrastructure services will end.
This summer, we will be inviting organisations, including Voluntary Action Calderdale, to bid for a new contract to deliver services from 2013 onwards.
To help us decide what services to fund in the future, we are asking voluntary groups for their views.
We have produced two documents:
- One is a short questionnaire, asking people from voluntary groups what services they need: Voluntary Sector survey [PDF file 151KB]|

- The other is a longer document, which asks for more detailed views, about the services people think they need, and about how we should decide who gets to provide the services in the future: Voluntary Sector longer survey [PDF file 224KB]|

If you are involved with a voluntary group, we would like to hear from you. You might be a volunteer, staff member, trustee or service user – we would welcome your comments.
You will need to send your views to us by Friday 11th May to make sure we take your comments into account. You can complete one of the PDFs or use the links to complete the survey online:
- Short survey: Support for the voluntary sector - Have your say|

- Longer survey: Support for the voluntary sector - Have your say|
.
We will be inviting bids from May / June 2012 for this service, and the new contract would start in April 2013.
