Everyone different, everyone matters
Race
The Council's first Race Equality Scheme which was produced in 2004 will now be replaced by our first Equality and Diversity Scheme.
The Council has decided to produce one Scheme rather than separate schemes for disability, gender and race. However, the aims of the Race Equality Scheme are still relevant and important and these will be continued in the Equality and Diversity Scheme .
As part of the Council's commitment to equalities the Asylum Seeker Support Team supports families and single adults who are dispersed by the National Asylum Support Service. For further information see Asylum seekers .

The ceremony must take place within three months of the application being granted. It includes making either an oath or an affirmation of allegiance to the crown and a pledge of loyalty to the United Kingdom. Citizenship ceremonies .
