Equality and Diversity Scheme

This revised Calderdale Equality and Diversity Scheme: Everyone different, everyone matters has been designed to ensure that the authority has a consistent approach to all areas of equality and diversity. The Equality and Diversity Scheme continues to act as the action plan for our Equality and Diversity Policy and to meet our ambition for Calderdale:

‘We want Calderdale to be a place where we value everyone being different and through our actions we demonstrate that everyone matters’.

The main purpose of the Equality and Diversity Scheme is to develop a range of equality actions that help to ensure that we meet and, wherever reasonable, exceeds the needs and expectations of all of our residents. We have reviewed the actions we had previously set and developed those that need to be achieved in the future in order to improve. These actions are set to take place over a period of three years with progress updated annually.

The new Scheme also looks at how we can be a better employer and make sure that employees are not treated unfairly. It also considers how we can work to make sure that the staff that work here reflect the communities we serve.

This document brings together and strengthens the work we continue to do on equality and diversity. We have made a lot of progress towards improving how we include equality and diversity in our processes and the work we do with Partners, but we still have much to do.
