Missing persons scheme

Halifax town centre sees the start of a new scheme to help members of the public be quickly reunited with loved ones if they become separated whilst shopping within the town.

Halifax town centre Ambassadors, part of Calderdale Council's community safety team, have spear headed the scheme after concerns at how many missing person incidents they have dealt with over the past months.

The scheme works by having a number of missing person points around the town centre. These are made up of a number of businesses that are spread over the town and who are members of the shop link radio scheme. The radios allow businesses to share valuable information quickly with other radio users including Police, CCTV and other organisations.

The missing person point business will display a window sticker which can be identified by its bright red and yellow background.

The businesses involved in the scheme are:

If a person is lost or found they can be taken to one of these points where assistance can be given.
