Contaminated land

The Contaminated Land regime is a statutory system of requirements set out through the Environmental Protection Act 1990, Section 78. All councils must actively seek to identify sites in their areas that may have been contaminated in the past.

Environmental permits

The Council is responsible for issuing permits to operators who carry out certain types of industrial process. The legal framework for this is the Environmental Permitting Regulations 2007, which came into force in April 2008.
