Access to planning applications
The service aims to publish planning applications within 24 hours of an application being validated and make them available online.
Commons and towns or village greens register
The Council keeps a register of common land and village greens. You can ask for a search of the register to be carried out on your behalf, or you can consult the register personally during office hours.
Development control
Calderdale Council Development Management team is responsible for determining planning applications in accordance with local and national policy, following local consultation.
Listed buildings
Development Management Conservation section encourages conservation of the built environment by providing specialist advice on the protection and enhancement of conservation areas and historic buildings.
Local Plan
This is new name for the development plan formerly referred to as the Local Development Framework. The Local Plan will provide the planning framework to meet the objectively assessed needs for development in the district and ensure that sustainable development is delivered.

Unitary development plan
The unitary development plan is the land-use plan for the borough and was formally adopted on the 25th August 2006, the plan was amended in August 2009 following a Directive from the Secretary of State.
