Disabled (blue) badge holders

Applying for a blue badge

Parking Badges (which are also known as Blue Parking Badges) are only for people with permanent, substantial disabilities. If you have a temporary disability - such as a broken leg - you would not qualify for a badge. Badges should only be issued to people who would otherwise find it impossible to visit shops, public buildings or other places, and to drivers who cannot turn the steering wheel of a vehicle by hand, even when the wheel is fitted with a turning knob.

If you wish to apply for a badge, you can print off a copy of the form: Application form for a parking badge [PDF file 236KB]|PDF file

Please read the guidelines included with the form to find out whether you are eligible for a Blue Parking Badge.

Please do not complete the signature box in Part G. Instead, you will be asked to sign the form when you take it to one of the following offices, along with two recent passport-sized photographs and any supporting evidence that is requested in the form:

Alternatively, you can ring Gateway to Care (0845 111 1103)and ask for a form to complete. Once completed you can take the form plus two recent passport-type photographs and relevant supporting evidence back to any of the above offices.

The staff will check the completed form, and in a short time you will receive your blue badge in the post. If your application is not successful, you will receive a letter explaining why.
