Markets
Introduction
The market place conjures up a picture of people, merchandise, movement, colour and a multitude of adjectives. Calderdale Markets are no exception and include:
The famous and historic Piece Hall market is situated in a truly magnificent setting of the central cobbled courtyard and conveniently situated in the heart of Halifax town centre. As well as the open air markets held on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays there is a variety of colonnade and Olde Worlde shops selling a range of goods from second hand books to hand made soaps, collectables, arst and crafts and much more. The venue also hosts an industrial museum, art gallery, tourist information centre and a choice of cafes. Events are held throughout the year such as concerts, theatre performances, childrens entertainment and more making a visit to Piece Hall a fun-packed day out for all the family.
The impressive and historic Borough Market was built between 1891 and 1896 and today dominates Halifax town centre. The exquisite Victorian architecture, much of which is still in its original state, makes this a building of great architectural and historic interest and hence the building is Grade II listed. Enjoy the hustle and bustle of a thriving retail market with a warm and friendly atmasphere.
Todmorden Market Hall and Open air market

Calderdale runs two farmers markets, one situated at Russell Street, Halifax and the other situated at Lees Yard, Hebden Bridge.
