Shoppers Charter
The Market Service in conjunction with its market traders is currently introducing a shopper’s charter for each market. The Shopper's Charter outlines your rights as a consumer and is displayed at each market where it is enforced.
In the event of the matter being unresolved you may contact West Yorkshire Trading Standards Service|
who will give you advice on your rights as a consumer and further action you may take. The contact number is 0113 3848848.
Know your rights!
- If goods are faulty do not attempt to use them.
- You are not always entitled to a full refund but you may be entitled to other such forms of redress.
- Accepting a repair does not affect your rights.
- Always try to contact the seller as soon as possible.
- If the matter remains unresolved put your complaint in writing.
- If you used a credit card to purchase a single item not exceeding £100 you may have additional rights.
- The seller is entitled to request reasonable proof of purchase and you are advised to retain your receipt, where issued.
- If you have simply changed your mind or you have asked for the wrong thing, you have no rights.
- Fair wear and tear is not a fault.
