Licensing enquiries

Public registers

The Council doesn't hold a public register of approved premises for food.

A public register for houses in multiple occupation can be viewed at the 2nd Floor reception of Northgate House, from 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday.

The following public registers are available online:

Right of appeal

If you are unhappy with how your application was processed, contact Environmental Health in the first instance. If after contacting the service you are still not satisfied, see Making a complaint.

Any person aggrieved by a refusal to be granted a licence or by any conditions to which a licence is subject may appeal to the Magistrates' Courts who may give such directions regarding the licence or its conditions as it thinks proper.

Consumer complaint

We would always advise that in the event of a complaint the first contact is made with the trader by you, preferably in the form a letter (with proof of delivery). If that has not worked, if you are located in the UK, Consumer Direct|External link will give you advice. From outside the UK contact the The European Consumer Centres Network|External link.
