Population of Calderdale 2004 - 2018
The government's Mid-Year Estimates have shown a steady rise in the population from 2004 to 2010. Their projections show what would happen if these trends continue. For detailed data see Tables A and B, and Figure 2 for changes by age-group.

These are the official figures produced by Government in June 2011. Numbers can only be released publicly to the nearest hundred. Estimates are available for other age groups and by gender (contact Corporate Research and Consultation – see foot of page). 2011 Estimates are due to be published in Summer 2012.
The major differences between Calderdale and England and Wales are a higher child population in Calderdale; a lower “young adult” population; a somewhat larger “middle-aged” population aged 45-64; and an older population group below the national average.
With an area of 36,276 hectares, the population density was 5.6 persons per hectare.

Figure 2 Estimates and Projections by age-group for Calderdale

These are the official government population projections for Calderdale, which were released in June 2010. They show what will happen if present trends continue. They reflect the larger than expected increase in population since 2001. Numbers in the older age groups are all expected to increase, in line with national trends. Whilst growth in the 75+ age-group is expected to be slow up to 2015, it is subsequently projected to increase at a faster rate. The full projections extend to 2033 and provide figures for five-year age-groups. These are available from the Corporate Research and Consultation team.
