Educational psychology
Working across the community
The educational psychologists will deliver their services in the following ways:
by telephone consultation, to clarify the problem but also to give free-standing advice and guidance
by e-mail, although this can be limited by client confidentiality
by involvement in collaborative case work with a variety of services around families or children
through local area consultation meetings, including groups of schools and different support services
through parent consultation sessions
through thematic local planning groups across schools and services
by contact with and input to existing or new parent or community support groups
by leading or participating in workshops and staff development experiences
by direct work with pupils, schools and families
through the process of statutory assessment and advice for those small numbers of children who may need a Statement of Special Educational Needs|
.
The educational psychologists may choose to contact schools themselves as the result of liaison with colleagues from other services (Education, Health and Social Care) where they have identified specific areas of concern about particular groups of vulnerable children.
