Certificate and ceremony fees

Standard certificate

Issued by:

• Superintendent Registrar - £9.00
• Registrar of Births and Deaths and Marriages - £3.50 at the time of registration.
• Partnership Registrar - £3.50 at time of registration.

Short birth certificate

Issued by:

• Superintendent Registrar - £9.00
• Registrar of Birth and Deaths - £3.50 at the time of registration

Note: One short birth certificate is issued free of charge at registration. Certificates are available from the Registrar only at the time of registration or shortly afterwards. Once a register is filled it is passed to the Superintendent Registrar and certificates are no longer available from the Registrar.

Searches in indexes

General search (search in the indexes by the applicant personally for not more than six successive hours) - £18.00.

An appointment must be made to carry out a search. This is subject to staff availability. 

Fees for marriages and civil partnerships

Notice of marriage or civil partnership - £33.50 per person

Marriage or Civil Partnership in a registered building (ie church or religious building) - £83.50

Marriage or Civil Partnership Formation at Approved Premises (eg Hotel) -

• Monday - Friday £320.00
• Saturday and Sunday £380.00.
• A £50 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking.

Marriage or Civil Partnership Formation at Spring Hall

• Monday - Thursday £90.00
• Friday £120.00
• Saturday morning £200.00
• A £50.00 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking.

The above fees include £3.50 for a marriage or partnership certificate where applicable.

Please note: These fees are reviewed by Calderdale MBC on 1^st April every year.
