Upbeat exercise referral scheme

Introduction

Ladies holding exercise ballsThe Upbeat Scheme is a ten week programme of activities which has been organised in partnership with NHS Calderdale and Calderdale Council. The scheme is aimed at people who have coronary heart disease, diabetes, people ‘at risk’ of cardiovascular disease or overweight with a BMI (Body Mass Index) over 30. It gives them the opportunity to try regular physical activity to help improve their health and wellbeing.

There is also the opportunity to attend a ten week ‘healthy weight’ programme which is open to anyone who is referred on to the scheme and wants to lose weight.

Taking part

If you are interested in taking part in the Upbeat Scheme then contact your GP or practice nurse. Once we have received your referral form, we will send you a letter and course timetable. If you are eligible we will write to you and invite you to book onto a 10 week course.
