Emergency planning

Introduction

The Emergency Planning Team prepares and maintains plans to provide a rapid and effective response to any emergency which requires the special mobilisation and / or coordination of local authority resources.

The aim of emergency planning is to provide appropriate arrangements and procedures that enable the Council to manage any emergency incident should it occur and to enable us to continue to provide normal services so far as is possible.

In the event of an emergency incident affecting Calderdale, public information may be displayed on the home page of this web site.

Meaning of "emergency"

Emergency means

  1. an event or situation which threatens serious damage to human welfare in a place in the United Kingdom,
  2. an event or situation which threatens serious damage to the environment of a place in the United Kingdom, or
  3. war, or terrorism, which threatens serious damage to the security of the United Kingdom.
